Welcome to Bellevue, NE, the "Birthplace of Nebraska!" Nestled along the banks of the Missouri River on the border of Nebraska and Iowa, Bellevue is the oldest continuous town in Nebraska and home to the Offutt Air Force Base. Its name, which translates to “Beautiful View” is a tribute to its breathtaking overlooks of the Missouri and Platte Rivers. For those seeking a quiet community filled with amenities and natural beauty, minutes from downtown Omaha, there is no better place to call home than Bellevue, NE!
Offutt Air Force Base
As Omaha began to grow significantly in the mid-1800s, Bellevue nearly became extinct until Fort Crook (now Offutt Air Force Base) purchased some land and began its legend here. Offutt Air Force Base is the host station for the 55th Wing, the largest wing of the United States Air Force's Air Combat Command. Additionally, the base is home to many significant associate units, including US Strategic Command Headquarters, the Air Force Weather Agency, the Omaha operating location of the Defense Finance and Accounting Service, and many others.
